This is Declan on his 2nd birthday. I cannot believe that I am the mother of a 2 year old!! (Nevermind the fact that I will be a mother of TWO kids in about a month....but this post is about D!) I know all parents feel this way, and I remember all of them telling me this when D was a newborn, but when I look at Dec's itty bitty baby pictures, it's crazy to me that this is the same kid we brought home from the hospital two years ago. He talks to us. He climbs stairs on his own. He feeds himself (most of the time). He sleeps in a big boy bed. He "reads" to us (or rather recites what he remembers us reading to him from one book in particular...) He LOVE LOVE LOVES his baby sister, even though he has not met her yet....or really gets what's gonna happen when she actually gets here. He knows countless signs (as in sign language), and it has not affected his speech at all. He stresses me out more than anything ever has. He teaches me patience on a daily basis. I know that two is a hard year, and that three isn't much better, but when he's good, he's GOOD and that makes it all worth it! Trevor and I keep saying "if this is as bad as it gets, we can totally handle it!" As long as we keep saying that each time things are a little worse, we'll never be disappointed! :) Our son is growing up and it's amazing and sad all at the same time. I love this boy so much it brings me to tears....and not just because I'm pregnant...thought the tears do come easier these days. :) Declan, you are the best little boy in the whole world. I can't wait to see you grow, become a big brother, and discover all that this world has to offer you! You are one of the BEST blessings in my life, and I PRAISE GOD for giving me you!
